"Thanks to my Main and Hystorical

maestro Michele Cellaro who has had the patience to teach me such this marvellous instrument. It's not his fault if I could do better. Probably this is my best. This site is devoted to You. Maestro! Thanks a lot, Maestro Michele!
With love, Vito.

I hope you all appreciate this my  no-professional-website.

My best bass regards

Dr. Nicola Moneta from Italy is the only one in the world to have an Octobasse (another there's in South Italy just in the region in which I live "Puglia") and he's able to play it. Well, in the link above we will see a conference in an italian University. And probably it's the only way to listen to an Octobasse playing with a ....violin. An incredible duet!!

Studing the double bass

I think you can observe the big differences between this Concerto no.3 by Dragonetti and the Nanny's one. Dragonetti, imho, couldn't write in that way ... compare Nanny's one with all the works by Dragonetti. Very different things.

Giuseppe "Pino" ETTORRE plays on GASPARO da SALO' 1590 - Video

GIUSEPPE "Pino" ETTORRE plays Valzer no. 1 by D. Dragonetti directly on HIS Double Bass 1590 (Gasparo da Salò) and with the original German Bow restored.

For the first time inthe World it's possible to listen and look at the most important double bass in the history of this instrument: the GASPARO da SALO' 1590 owned by Domenico Dragonetti played by PINO ETTORRE (in the video).

The double bass was restored by the italian liuther Sergio Scaramelli, together with the german bow.

Pino ETTORRE (first double bass in LA SCALA THEATRE in Milano) has been the first to provide a video for the Net.

Did they play with a carbon fibre bow ?? !!!

Where is Bottesini 's TESTORE ??

When Bottesini died, his family sold the Testore to a lawyer in Turin (Italy) for Lire 25.000 (Bottesini paid it Lire 400/600), and the lawyer sold it to a group of English for a bigger amount (incredible).

But today we don't know much more about

the Testori or Testore.

Someone thinks it's in China !!!

Probably it will impossible to know it.

But a beautiful history is how Bottesini and Lisei found the Testore in a theatre of "marionette".

It seems it was owned by a double bass player in Milan, his name was Fiando. When he died the double bass "died" with him in this theatre. Probably Bottesini paid it 800/900 Lire or less. One thing it was sure: it was the double bass for Mr. Bottesini and Lisei was convinced of it.

... in other times !!
